The Komradin trio launches its debut album at the Oud Festival. The members of Komradin play classical Arabic music, mainly works from the vocal genre called muwashshah (plural: muwashshahat). Most of their repertoire is based on works from Egypt and Syria from the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century, composed by Sheikh Sayed Darwish, Muhammad Othman, Omar Albatash, Sheikh Darwish Al-Hariri and others. Komradin is an unusual group of gifted artists: Oud player Onn Yosef Kadosh, saxophonist Asaf Harris and drummer David Sirkis. Their unique musical idiom gives this classical music a modern tone of contemporary jazz and weaves into it new layers and meanings.
