Who Are We?

Over 100 ethnic groups and communities live side by side in Jerusalem: Jews and Muslims, secular and orthodox, members of all religions from every continent.

Confederation House, which is located opposite the walls of the Old City, on the seam-line between east and west, seeks to provide a venue for all of the heritages and traditions of these communities. Moreover, it seeks to serve as their meeting place - a spot where artists can seek their roots and heritage and work alongside other artists of different nationalities and cultures.

Confederation House is active in the fields of music, poetry and theater. In the realm of poetry, the House has been producing the Poets? Festival at Metulla for a decade, along with the Time of Mercy series, monthly poetry encounters in memory of Yehuda Amichai. In the area of theater, the House initiated the establishment of the Ethiopian Hullegeb ensemble and offers it a home. In the field of music, the House provides a stage for artists and ensembles from Israel and abroad, as well as for a decade having produced the Jerusalem International Oud Festival - the jewel in the crown of its annual activity, exploring Arab musical tradition and each year bringing together traditions and artists from East and West.

In all of these activities, Confederation House seeks to serve as a bridge between East and West, between past and present, and above all, linking together all peoples.
